The Reference Italian for OLED technology
January 12th, 2009
The more researchers and producers working booby OLED technology have joined in the OLED Association (OLED-A) through which they exchange technical information and market.
The list includes companies that are looking for molecules to polymer OLED and PLED technology, and other companies who simply intend to produce products with OLED screens.
The association is therefore intended to serve as a catalyst in the development of OLED and standards to promote the growth of this market.
The list of members who are part of Cambridge Display Technology, Corning, DuPont, Eastman Kodak Company, eMagin Corporation, Ignis Innovation, MicroEmissive Displays, Novaled AG, OLED-T, Samsung SDI and Universal Display Corporation.
STATES:
Cambridge Display Technology
Founded by the University of Cambridge, became a subsidiary of the Japanese Sumitomo Chemical with whom he signed the agreement in 2005 on the basis of the development of electroluminescent polymers (P-OLEDs) and special inks for the production of display and lighting applications.
The P-OLED will replace the existing display technologies in
wide range of applications, including information management, communications and entertainment. The license for this technology has been awarded to several large companies such as Panasonic, MicroEmissive Displays, Plastic Logic, Add-Vision and Delta Optoelectronics.
Equipped with a broad portfolio of intellectual property focused
on the technology of light emitting diodes, Cambridge
Display Technology continues to invest heavily in the development
materials, processes and devices leading to the commercialization of
superior products for display and lighting.
The CDT works in the Research Centre of Godmanchester in Britain EHA proved to be able to build 40-inch OLED screens with 30-55% lower cost compared to LCD.
The CDT does not produce but focuses on basic research on polymers, synthetic materials and the construction of process architectures, partnerships, joint ventures and licensing are business models. It is not publicly traded.
Universal Display
This company was founded in 1994 deals with molecular research on different types of OLEDs, both for the display lighting.
He has authored more than 700 patents and partnerships with Motorola, Konica Minolta, LG Display, Samsung, Seiko Epson, Toyota and Pioneer and several American universities.
With the patent FOLED is developing flexible screens that can lead for example to:
Foldable electronic newspapers
Ultra-thin televisions and light the size of a wall
Display instrumental for cars and planes
Furnishing light panels that change color.
Listed on the NASDAQ (PANL), Financial Information
